Getting warm? Zip off the legs. Getting Cold? Walking through a field of jagger bushes? Zip ‘em back on. Going on an adventure, or just a hott date with a girl that’s wearing pants with no pockets and that doesn’t want to carry a purse? Plenty of storage space, with front / back / side pockets.
So much versatility!

Socks and sandals are the best, ask any pacific northwesterner that hasn’t been tainted by people that don’t know what they’re talking about. Don’t let the bastards ruin a good thing, rise up and wear socks with sandals proudly!

Uh, who in their right mind would trust the opinion of some wrinkly old loser that can’t even choose between the glory of a beard and the smoothness of clean-shaven, leaving him forever in the repulsive scruff zone?

This is the preferred outfit for reading Deadspin

Going to a more classy event instead of a casual one?
You can switch out the white
socks for dress socks, for even more versatility!

Remember to always replace the legs before going in the wash, miss a few washes and you’ll end up with different colour lower legs than upper legs and seat.

This is great advice!

I only ever see people with knee problems wearing these. Just unzip the leg and you can put on, take off, or adjust your knee brace. Then, rezip for pants.

The perfect garment for signaling to the world that you have no vanity left and require the ability to carry many items on your person.

Also a good way to showcase your ability to adapt to changing weather conditions.

It’s not much but I used to work in an outdoors store and advised on the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Another tip, never wash a waterproof item* on anything higher than 40C (as the tape on the seams will come unglued), always do up the zippers and velcro as the abrasive surfaces can damage the fabric as it rubs against each other during the wash.
*with most waterproof items people fell that the item is no longer waterproof as they can feel a small amount of water un down their leg, back or arms, this is not the case, it is simply that the breath-ability of the item has been reduced from your sweat, and general dirt.
Sorry. I got boring a lot faster than I usually do.

Worked great for backpacking through SEA! Hot and humid outside but need to wear pants in the temple? Ezpz

My two best pairs of pants are North Face zipoffs. They do everything well in either configuration and the zipper is very low-profile. Love them!

Duke of Edinburgh Award? Cool. My oldest brother got his. I never did bother going for it.

Or these.

They’re basically all I wear now. Columbia has some nice ones that wear great.

Ye’, I never really bothered with it myself when I was at school, even though my form tutor was a stress head for his form to do as much with it as possible.
But as an adviser in the outdoor store, we were responsible for helping kids and their parents buy what they responsibly and what was needed depending on whether their kid was doing a bronze, silver or gold award and the many variables there-in.

I’ve really liked a few pair that I have owned in the past, but the issue I have lately is all I seem to be able to find are ones made using super light nylon. Then you get the wonderful combination of being cold even while wearing pants and hearing that wonderful jogging pants swishing noise all the time.
I need to check to see if perhaps LL Bean makes them in a better material.

I guess they’re good in theory, but I’ve never seen a pair that looked decent. The shorts are always either too long or too short once the legs are zipped off, and the zipper creates an old timey hoop skirt effect that keeps the fabric from draping right.
